With the new Thoth NPC/expertise trade-in system being introduced this past week, making new characters is infinitely more appealing (looking to get that char ticket $$ CAVE, I see you~). I'm sure there are also people who want to use the new system to change around their current characters as well.
Since Lethe's Bottles are kind of overpriced CP-wise (40 CP for two lolol) and rare to see sold from players, I thought it's a good time to remind everyone (and let new players know) that you can get up to 16 free, non-trade Lethe's Bottles per character ticket via some relatively easy quests. Given that a character ticket is 50 CP, if you have a character in need of bottles, it's clear that this is a much more cost-friendly option; and with the help of Thoth and a small bit of prep work, you can easily collect them all very quickly. And of course, if you're making a new character anyhow, it's a good idea to go through these quests to save the Lethe's Bottles just in case your build requires changes in the future.
These are the 'full' Lethe's Bottles, which means they work on characters of any level. Obviously, as they're non-trade, this only works if the character you want to use them on is on the same account as the character earning them.
In this guide, I'll be outlining each quest that rewards you with a non-trade Lethe's Bottle upon completion, as well as mention any prereq quests or preparations you'll want to do beforehand.
With all of these quests, make sure you have the relevant expertise unlocked (have the red arrow pointing up), otherwise most quest NPCs will refuse to let you turn in the quest. So if you've followed my guide and are unable to turn in one of the quests, please double-check this step as it's likely the issue.
If you do not plan on keeping the expertises raised by these quests (and you almost certainly will want to lose a few of them because otherwise you'd end up with a total Frankenmonster character), make sure that you do all of this while you are still under level 79; all players below 79 may freely buy and use the non-CP Lethe's Waters, Lethe's Bottles, and Hourglasses that are sold for macca in the Magic Shops. This way you can use the macca Lethe items to remove unwanted expertise, while saving the non-trade Lethe's Bottle quest rewards for higher-level characters in need of expertise re-arrangement.
So, let's go!
Quest Name: Gain Expertise in… Attack/Shot/Destruction Magic! (エキスパート『アタック / ショット / 破壊魔法』習得!)
Level Requirement: None
Prerequisite Quests: None
Items Needed: None
Expertise Needed: For Attack, C2 Attack (アタック); For Shot, C2 Shot (ショット); For Destruction Magic, C2 Destruction Magic (破壊魔法)
Steps: Speak with the Kind Demon Buster (親切なデビルバスター) immediately outside of Home III. Select his second option, then first option, the accept his request. He will ask you to raise one either Attack, Shot, or Destruction Magic to C2. You may pick whichever you want; you can do all three quests eventually if you so desire. However, he will only let you accept one at a time, so plan accordingly. Once you have raised the required expertise to C2, report back for your Lethe's Bottles.
Reward: 2 Non-Trade Lethe's Bottle per completed expertise (can be done once each with Attack, Shot, and Destruction Magic)
*Thanks to Saink for reminding me about this guy!

He'll let you into his COMP and give you a small demonstration of how Pursuit works. After you kill the Slimes and admire the shiny extra numbers, speak with him again to exit his COMP. Talk to him again and he'll give you a quest; he wants you to go to Kagurazaka Zhu Que Caverns (魔階カグラザカ朱雀洞) and defeat one Lustful Fiend Legion. Legion is the boss of the Bronze run (unless you luck out and get the rare Zhu Que boss, in which case, congrats but it won't count for the quest!); Force and Elec are very effective on him. Return to Kano after you've tallied one Legion kill and he will reward you with C1 Pursuit, praise his light.

Expertise Needed: C1 Weapons Knowledge (武器知識)
Expertise Raised: Blades (刃物)
Steps: Talk to the Dwarf near the Ikebukuro exit in Shinjuku Babel. Select his option "合成について" and then the option with "刀匠" - this will start the Swordsmith quest. He will request 10 Rubies (however, if you've done the Armsmaker quest before this one, he will want 10 Opal instead). When you give these to him (he will remove from inventory), he will then ask you to come back when you've raised your Weapon Knowledge to at least C1. After you do this, he will give you C1 Blades. You'll need to manually learn the first two skills from the chain expertise that has unlocked; after you do this, report back to him. He'll ask you to craft one Machete. Do this (each attempt consumes the raw materials described above) and report back. He won't take the Machete, but he will reward you with a Practice Four-Leaf Clover. Talk to him again and the quest will complete and you will receive 3 more clovers and 2 lethe's bottles. Finally!

He will request 10 Rubies (however, if you've done the Swordsmith quest before this one, he will want 10 Opal instead). When you give these to him (he will remove from inventory), he will then ask you to come back when you've raised your Gun Knowledge to at least C1. After you do this, he will give you C1 Crafts. You'll need to manually learn the first two skills from the chain expertise that has unlocked; after you do this, report back to him. He'll ask you to craft one Nambu Type 100. Do this (each attempt consumes the raw materials described above) and report back. He won't take the Nambu, but he will reward you with a Practice Four-Leaf Clover. Reward: 1 Beginner's Textbook (Medical Science); 1 Non-Trade Lethe's Bottle.
*Since this one requires a CP item, it's not as much of a gimme as the others. However, for the sake of completion, I'm including it anyhow.
Other Ways To Obtain Non-Trade Lethe's Bottles/Waters:
As far as I know, this are the only consistent, in-game sources of Lethe's Bottles/Waters. I'm not including login campaigns and events because those aren't always active; likewise, obviously CP means like the cash shop and fortune cards won't be included here either.
If I've overlooked a quest or way to obtain a Lethe's Bottle, please let me know!
