I've always waited for this awesome idea to become a reality, but I've waited so much that now I actually learned how to program.
I've remembered this idea today, and I've started to write some Game Design Documents, code and prototype it on Unity.
Now I'm starting to think that this can actually become a real project, so now let's put the cards on the table:
About me:
I'm a Unity C# programmer, with plenty of experience in game programming and design. I'm pretty young though, so even if I don't have any published game, I've got some games and I can show them to you.
I want this game to be something fun to develop since I'm doing it on my free time, and the people on the forum to test it, give it content suggestions, and ideas on tweaking it.
I'll post lots of prototypes during the whole process, cuz that's what I always do on every game I develop(testing is reeeally essential).
About the project:
- In this game, you'll be able to fight using main characters of the MegaTen series, customizing your attacks, skills, guns, and demons.
- I'm mentalizing this project right now as a 2D fighter kinda similar to the "Naruto Ultimate Ninja" series for the PS2, but with customizable attacks like "Dissidia: Final Fantasy", for the PSP, or "Super Smash Brothers"(Square Up, Square Down, Square Side, Square).
- You would be able to switch which attacks and skills you could use before battling, and demons could serve as "Assist Attacks".
- Idea: A "Magnetite System" similar to "Dissidia: Final Fantasy"'s bravery system. Sword and Gun attacks would serve to drain up "Magnetite Points" from the enemy, and skill attacks would actually cause the damage equal to the Magnetite Points you have.
- I'm thinking on a "Press Turns" combat mechanic, adapted to the fighting game genre. You can only use skills when it's your turn, and you can use it 4 times before your turn ends. When you've attacked four times, your opponent now 4 has chances to use his skills too, and so on. Deflecting your enemy's attacks can make him lose a turn, and landing a critical could give you an extra turn.
What do I have right now:
On the prototype I've built today, I've simply put 2 players on an arena and made them able to move, attack, and created a basis for me to create content over.
One example is the "Attack Maker" I've made for me to use, in which I can easly create new attacks(Duh), customizing its damage, animations, knockback direction and power, stun time for the enemy, movement the user does when it attacks, hitboxes positions, frames it appears, etc. This is going to help me a LOT.
What do I need from you:
Basically, artists and composers.
I kiiinda know how to pixel art, but I don't even know if that's the art direction we are going to follow.
There's going to be a lot of work, and even if you aren't able to dedicate much of your time for this, it's ok, cuz I also won't be able to.
We are all going to be game designers and testers during the whole process, including the people here from the forum, and I'm sure it's going to be fun(I'm seriously working on this during my free time).
Anyway, questions? volunteers?
