Hey guys! I've missed playing SMT something fierce as of late, so I decided to try out this wonderful JP servers I've been hearing about. However, I've got a few questions.
1. I'm dragging my boyfriend along to play with me, and I was wondering if there are any English clans we can join? I can let you know what my old IGN used to be if anyone wants to catch up in-game!
2. I saw the thread on how to download the client, however, I'm having some problems with adding another language onto my computer. None of the pictures are showing up and I have a Windows 7 computer, so there's no specific option to add a language.
3. I didn't quite understand the thread of the "main rules" of the game in regards to making parties and such. Also, it mentioned being polite and such to the JP players, but said we shouldn't really talk to them? I'm confused.
4. Are there any English files we can implement before I start playing? I know it said I would most likely just learn what buttons to press, but any help in getting some English implemented into the game would be helpful.
5. It's been FOREVER since I played so I don't even remember the storyline or how to play. Are there people around that'll help with the storyline? Since I'd be restarting as a new character with no gear or anything, I don't think I can properly play the game.
6. Is getting gear easy? I used to be the 2nd max type of enhancer/cotw and was waiting until I hit the level 90's before completing maxing out my skills. So I'm completely rusty on how to go about that.
7. What characters are most wanted? Gunner, enhancer, melee, magic?
Pretty sure I'll have more questions but thought I'd start off with those. Hope you guys are happy to have me back! SMT forever! <3

First of all, welcome back! To answer some if your questions... 1. Yes, there are many clans sprinkled around multiple servers, but Cerberus seems to have a big chunk of English players, here in the forums there is a Clans section so feel free to find one that fits you the best. 2. Its been a while since I started so i don't exactly remember but im sure Google can help. Going to the Microsoft website might help as well. 3. Basically just don't use shout willy-nilly. Shout shud be used to make parties that are on the party list already. And its not like we can't talk to Japanese players, its that mosty because they dont know much english, and visa versa. If you havent already read it the etiquette master post is here: megatenonline.proboards.com/thread/574/general-game-rules-etiquette-masterpost4. One or 2 found a way yes, but it involved many hours of work to do. not only that but its very limited, mostly menu stuff that EN had. Personally I don't use it and not alot of others do. Honestly its just muscle memory. If you remember what you clicked on EN servers you should be fine, there arent much changes to the menu bar, aside from the DCO option (cash shop). 5. There are videos on youtube that tell the story up to Act 16. Acts over that haven't been translated unfortunately but there are guides on the wiki that go into detail on what to do so you dont get lost. 6. It fluctuates. A lot of the more "outdated" gears havent been released recently so they are scarce... sometimes. There is a fortune card that, when you reach level 90 iirc lets u play for a guaranteed "outdated" set like Butler and Destruction. There is a new run called Destiny that have a couple nice things in it like Red Bridal and Symbol sets. However if you do manage to get it its still a gamble if you do end up getting it. Im sure there are destiny guides here somewhere, im too lazy to search tho :/. Here in the jp server, at least in Cerberus top teir sets go for 1b+ with there being many nice things inbetween. Please dont let the concept of macca here scare you. Some stuff costs millions of macca, yes but thats because its so easy to make macca now. If you remember how hard it was to make 100k back in the day, in a couple sugi bronzes you can reach 100k and more. Events can drop nice stuff that you can sell for a nice chunk of money too. 7. As of now mages rule the server. However its an expensive build. Most people spend several billions of macca to do 40k damage three times in 1 attack. Enhancers are scattered among the population too, like me. Demon users are a nice option and is a nice, easy, and less expensive starting character, for the most part. The new mitama feature of demons really help, even with lack of gear. Runes here a much more simpler and easier to get too. I dont see much melees and gunners anymore tho. I hope some of this helped you and didnt scare you off. I'd join a clan as soon as possible, so that would be step one. Please do your best to learn katakana which i recommend everyone do. Its japanese that is used to sound out english words. So for example マーラ sounds like maara and translates to Mara, most demon names are in this form of japanese. Also try to not over excite yourself with all the new content. Take it one step at a time, and go with what you remember and know. Again welcome back to the japanese server and i hope you have a great time here! EDIT: For the love of god stay under lv80! Recently there was an update that made it so those newbie lethes bottles, waters, and hourglasses that reset your,...everything, increased so that they work for players under lv80. Not at lv 80 but under. This way if you mess up or the class isnt as fun you can reset without having to spend real money or over pay for cash lethes. Leveling now is a joke now anyhow. If i wanted to i cud get to level 95 in 5 minutes. /totally not bragging tho.

First of all welcome to the server! I understand it can be a bit hard at the beginning but trust me, time will fix it and you'll get used to this server Most of us don't even notice it's in japanese anymore, also like Jet said, Learning katakana (which is not really hard) it's VERY useful, It took me around 1-2 weeks to learn it If you are having issues installing jap language on windows 7 maybe I can help you out if you have Teamviewer, once you are able to join the game I can help you out explaining all the new stuff, I'd invite you to my clan but it's mainly spanish, however I'll be available on Tell chat/Whatsapp if you want

I don't have teamviewer unfortunately D: Like i said, stick with what you know for now. Worry about expertise and not much else, as you progress you can go on to new content. Alot of people feel overwhelmed, you're not the only one.Luckily the game is more flexible now having many comfort updates to better the non-CP players. And going back to the japanese pack, a quick google search lead me to windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/language-packs#lptabs=win81. Seems you can follow the instructions there to get the language pack. Good luck and have fun .

I dont see much melees and gunners anymore tho. I see a handful of melees and a handful of gunners. But yeah, you're right in a sense. -------- As to the person asking the questions, I'd say just go with what's easiest for you. Starting off as enhancer was tough for me though since I have to rely on demon. And help through wildcats. MANY, many wildcats. BUT if you can get in a clan, and they have room for you in event (after you've done act 16 + wildcat quest) - then you shouldn't have as much trouble as I did. I started off with a summon PG demon I got from login event. Inexperienced Tokisada. So he started off with not so great default skills. And here he is today: He is proof that even a summon PG (or freshly caught) with not so great skills can get better. He's able to do suginami gold and celu gold (so long as thor don't 1hit KO with his spin), I have not tried other runs with him. (he was just rb'd on his first path after mitama, still needs work but he'll get there! *he had 100 more spell before mitama and will get it back & more, after more rebirthing*; The event run also has an experience option - but I wouldn't recommend it if you're still grinding out things... figure out your build and if you are okay with proceeding past 79 - feel free to join that too!). Also welcome to the server. As you've noticed, we have many guides here and then megaten.sesshou.com/wiki/ Some people open jp wiki in google chrome to translate it and sift through that as well tinyurl.com/SMTjpwiki If not, feel free to use the question/answers + looking for advice forums

Thank you guys! I probably will go back to being an enhancer with a demon companion. That's what I had back on the EN server and I never got to finish her up. Was trying to get her to level 90+ so I can turn my Loa into a Lilith (or whatever the snake lady's name was) but never got the chance. D:
Never got to max out my enhancer/cotw either. ;w;

Yup! That's right. Lilith. ALSO, the "oompths" or whatever they was spelt on EN now have a use other than to deconstruct them. I believe exchanging each one gives you 1 yagiya report, which can be traded in for 1 rank at the thoth npc of an expertise of your choice. And at the end of gold runs, you'll get an item you won't be familiar with. I believe it is for like a lvl95 or 97 quest (I have not used them yet, so I am still unsure). But those also can be turned in for yagiya reports, but instead of 1 for 1, it gives you 20 yagiya reports! 10 yagiya reports = 1 class of expertise. But do note, it only goes up to class 5 in each one you want expertise in. But it is a great start.
Also, there will be a yagiya shota (I don't remember his name, so I just call him yagiboy) - he will be next to snakeman in home 3 and outside control room in shinjuku babel. After completing certain acts - he gives you gifts. Act 2, 4, 7 - etc~ But you can only get one gift per day, then have to wait a day for the next. At act 4, I know he gives you a destiny coin, 10 player 5x, 10 mastery 5x incense. That is a nice help right there too.

D: Never got to max out my enhancer/cotw either. ;w; Cotw isnt a need anymore, from what i've seen. I am a c5 enhancer and mitama scientist. Mitama science almost doubles your demons power (kinda) once the demon is mitama'd. A "must have" for demon users i think, but thats me. Some are still enh/cotw and work great. Mitama science isnt in effect until after mitama tho, which would be a long ways away. LoA too. Some enhancers have them and love it, but for me and some others we use Whips skill (op skill you get from cp pants, more info here) or if you go chaos, permanent SA from the Abyss SS. the SA skill itself is also good. Lilith is a great option, but shes level 92. And to start her quest over in the JP server you need to be level 90 D:. But basically any demon you chose can be made into a op powerhouse. My friend used to have a High Pixie that wud constantly hit 30k no problem.

I still use the c1.5 and c3 cotw skills. But I don't think 4.5 is necessary, as I don't have many targets I want to make stand still while I pound on it.
You can - with some effort, unlock alot of expertise. But that takes time.

Don't feel bad for bering overwheld. I'm there as well. I quit back in the days of Aeria that still held the game. Never played it when altus took it and never heard that it was picked up once more only to be stopped in 2014. I stopped because i became a dad. Now I would love to replay (wouldn't care to start back at lvl1) but the work you have to go through to play on the jp server is rediculous. If only a translator software like the game translator 2.0 worked on smt imagine or a en patch was possible. I would deffo get back into the game..but right now, even if my kids are older, I seriously don't have that time.
But I'm still positive. Maybe someday a patch will be made or a game dev will resurrect it (it happened to 9Dragons), who knows... that's why I keep an eye out on this forum.
Edit: besides I already tried installing it and playing but I never got a chance. It kept crashing back to desktop the moment I pressed on play from the launcher.(AND YES I DID FALLOW THE STEPS). I believe it might be because of windows 10 but i spent far to long trying to make it work that it removed my want of playing. Not worth playing on a jp server for this much trouble to get it to work.
