I'm not sure if this is a hint to a new mmo (why would they call it imagine?) or just a new imagine server in which they might handle things differently. Some also say they did it to prevent private servers?? Not sure if thats how it works though. If they bought the domain just last week it would probably take a year or so before the game is officialy opened so you have your spare time for a while.
Another question: is there any meaning for them to purchase 3 domains for one game?

It could be to protect their own IP by prevent others from making a game with a similar name. Maybe?

They have the .com variants of all 3 of these domains since 2004. They updated the .com variants on the same day as buying the .jp variants. This could mean something, or it could just be protection against domain campers. Who knows.

I don't have any real information, but it doesn't have to mean anything. It's possible they just registered it so others can't. Kind of reminds me when you hear a website URL mentioned in a tv-show. They pretty much always register that URL, even if they don't make a website, so people can't abuse it.

Even if Megaten 2 or Shin Megami Tensei Imagine 2 happens better pray that Sega and Cave not try to enforce same security PSO2 has what can goodly prevent ENG people from joining game servers ( i mean on that authentification JP captcha that game has and its doing good job on making people rage, i had even problems with that and had to need help from friendly JP friend i got).

Maybe after observing the casual little flaws of the game they decided to close it and reopen it anew... just hopefully.
