I want to start a group of computer stealthy people who know how to Hex decode, IDA functions & decompiling (reverse engineering) why? you might say, Because I am able to translate the entire game but I need man/women power to do it. I was able to translate the most if not all of the functions of the ImagineUpdate.exe program but, now the question is, can I translate the entire game?, yes its possible but it's going to take a hell of a time if I do it if alone. Ps: I hope you may understand, im not here to teach people basics of computer. I'd like candidates that already know. This doesn't have to happen if no one want's to join. So far I was able to translate this much, I am going to move into the game itself to see if I can translate something. I'll keep you guy's update don this thread megatenonline.proboards.com/thread/179/megami-tensei-imagine-official-guide

I am willing to help, I am a professional IT engineer, and have translated several games in the past including having run some own servers. This game brings back memories and only recently found out it was shut down. I can do an initial translation of the client, I just need someone familiar with the game to correct my translations, any translations like quests etc I will not do, but I am willing to do all the menu's, skills etc. Let me know if you're interested.

Downloading the game as I speak, I have not looked into the file system of this game yet, but it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out, I'll keep you updated.

I have seen a few people worrying about the updater patching any changes made by translators. Just to put you at rest, this is relatively easy to overcome with a second update pipeline, calling the function from the original updater through a second, which goes through a private patch location (privately hosted website?) which re-downloads any changes as soon as any of the validated translators can acknowledge that the patch won't break or corrupt the updated game. Problem sorted? I am currently looking into the file system, it is indeed slightly different than the previous games I've worked on.

The game previously existed in English so I feel like it shouldn't be overly difficult to figure out a way to, at the least, transfer over the existing translation. From there, it would simply be translating the new content not present in the original NA release.
Of course, I've no experience in these things so I don't claim to know. I'm just a SMT fan who wants to play Imagine again.

wow... I'd really like to help
I'm an ex-lv97 player on the US server, this means I had to spend a damn lot of time in the server xD 5-6 alts and stuff
Yesterday I logged in for the first time in the game and... it was hard, HARD, I couldn't even set the keyboard as I used to, because I don't get a japanese word, not even one ^^u
I'm a computer technitian but I have never made some of the things you wanna do, I'm not sure if I can help but.. you can count on me
At least translating the interface would ROCK, then probably the acts?... then items x_____x And I know it's TOO much work, I'm aware the masive amounts of text this game has... but it'd be awesome for the western comunity to have this kind of things
One question: will the game run even with the modified files? or will it try to update those files? xD
Also... is there anything (other than the updater) translated thing already? I'm really having a bad time atm xD

Yeah, of course I used it for all my alts back on aeria xP But I'm sure the order of some questions was not the same, I.E. when we get questions that affect alignment
Hopefuly I'm wrong, still this is a very good iniciative.. I hope it's not dead x.x
Edit:
I was thinking ... maybe if we have some members that can understand japanese, we could try another (easier) way What if we take a bunchlot of screenshots, we translate them and we arrange them in some sort of wiki/simple page?
To be honest I'm having a bad time setting my keyboard as I used to have it back in the EN server
Just saying it would be easier and it'd need way less techincal knowledge :]
Once again, count on me if I can help
