From what i've gathered around the forum, it would seem like there is a very different Etiquette in the JP servers than say, in the older English ones. Since the community here is slowly growing by the day, perhaps one of the more experienced members here could make an Etiquette thread somewhere so we dont have newer members making too many mistakes. (like talking in shout chat for example)
Just an idea that might help avoid problems with the JP population, let me know what you think.

This may not be a bad idea. Something like it does exist on the West Imp blog. I found the article very helpful with transitioning to the JP server. However, the problem with online resources is that there always seems to be a large group of people totally oblivious to such things. Or worse, willfully ignorant of such things. For example, I PM'd a couple people using shout chat in sugi to let them know it was not a proper way to converse and a few possible consequences to be mindful of. One person had no problem, the other I think maybe thought I was lying to them or something. Later on the same person was spamming emotes in a very populated area and saw absolutely no problem with their behavior (even though that still would have been rude on EN server?). I guess the best we can do is try to make information as easy to access as possible. Even if it means being repetitious to the point of nauseousness lol. I know other people have left tips for trading with JP players. I'd like to know about trying to find random parties for runs as well. And I personally have questions such as: do JP parties have sponsors for runs? I think in time we'll have more answers and such, right now I think most of us are just feeling our way in the dark and learning new things.

This is pretty helpful stuff. Hopefully we can spread the word and get something started.

Sponsoring isn't common here as it was on EN with the exception of CP run consumables like NSSR II and golden fruit. And, yeah, the best course of action is to spread information to whoever seems to be unaware, because we seriously do not want to make waves on this server.

Actually i kind of wonder what the JP population thinks about our presence. I'd guess they dont care provided we dont draw attention to ourselves too much.

I haven't seen a lot of people mention it, but in skimming around I have seen it come up. Some people going 'why would they even go so far as to go to the Japanese server for this crappy game?' and discussion on how much better our FC/economy were compared to theirs ('There's no way they can handle FCs like ours, they had ring regens for like 100yen there lol').
Someone mentioning they saw someone saying some inappropriate things in shout, wondering if that was the influence of foreigners coming to the server.

I hope this is the right place to ask this, but does anyone know if it's considered bad etiquette/rude to try to speak to people in English? My Japanese is terribly limited, but I'd really like to try and find someone to play with on Cu Chulainn, but the last thing I want to do is offend someone or be rude. Thank you for any help you can provide^^

I would recommend requesting to join one of the clans on this forum (clan section) and they'll help you get started. Usually everyone in the clans here speaks english, and many of them are very friendly to beginners so its your best bet. Welcome to the forum btw.

Thank you very much for your response and information, Foxnull! I wish I had made my character on Cerberus back when I first started playing (I think it's been three or four years of off and on playing now on the JP server), that way I wouldn't have to be all alone, heh. Thank you again!

Thank you again! 4 years huh? Thats impressive! I think most people here started rather recently except for a few like you. Also, i'd ask around if anyone plays on Chu if you dont want to make a new char, you might be suprised!
