The series of events described on this thread happened more than one year from the time of this writing. No one knows and no one will ever find out why the banning took place. Every single line of thought on these pages are nothing more but theories and shouldn't be treated as conditions for banning or whatsoever. Do not spread this information across players. It only causes paranoia on an already sensitive topic.
Hey all,
It seems yesterday I triggered some form of auto-ban when I created the newest of my alt accounts (making the total number 5 including my main). I have yet to receive any message from cave, however today (within Japan business hours), my IP was blocked from megaten servers. So it seems possible that creating multiple accounts that share the same IP could get you banned.
When it happened (Sunday):- 1. Yesterday, I was still logged into several of my characters. I created an alt account for an enhancer alt. 2. Soon after that, I could not login to 'secure.cave-online.jp' for several of my older accounts. It gave me error logging in, please check your ID/password messages. 3. As soon as I had logged out of megaten, I could not get back in with authentication failed messages. 4. Retrieving the username for a given email worked, but resetting the password for a given ID gave wrong ID/secret answer information (for which I know is correct because of the email they send after creating the account). 5. Interestingly enough, the new account could still be accessed. 6. I received nothing in email.
Later development (Monday):- 1. During business hours, my IP address could no longer access megaten or secure.cave-online.jp. 2. My newest account has fallen into the same area as my older accounts. 3. I still have received nothing in email.
I am hoping this is temporary, but at the same time I am expecting the worst case scenario at this point. Unfortunately, "contact us" all operates through secure.cave-online.jp, so as soon as you cannot login to access that - you cannot easily contact cave. I need some guidance for this, anyone been through the same experience and are still playing?
I could well start from fresh, as soon as my home IP address changes (it is dynamic anyway). Given I came here to motivate myself to learn Japanese, I might well do that in the worst case scenario. However I will certainly not be creating another synther or si'er from scratch anytime soon, so my apologies to the community for that.
Kind Regards, Sesshou

The same has happened to me. Hopefully it is only a 7 day ban, but it isn't likely. In the event that it is permanent: it's been fun, see ya.
edit: I might come back if those updates to non-enhancer classes in June are incredibly good, but the loss of a year's worth of work on demons, as well as losing the opportunity to fuse Michael has pissed me off too much at the moment.

usually once your ip change you cant login to your account due to safeguard being turned on. that is solved by clicking a link on a e-mail your receive from cave, which apparently you haven't received. Also, the system can block you from creating a new account from the same ip from my experience but it wasnt permanent, think it was for a day or something. I havent tried to create one while im logged already in to say but maybe safeguard detected that or the checking system anyway. My advice was for your future account btw, with safeguard on since you have dynamic ip you might be blocked again since it blocks it everytime the ip changes for security reasons.

I already made sure safeguard was disabled as soon as I came across that feature. I would have been in trouble long before this if I hadn't (several of my accounts are 4 years old...)

Hey Sesshou! I don't know if it's just something about getting "caught" with too many accounts, but I have logged on quite a few different accounts from 1 IP (I have like... 7 accounts now) and have not been banned. I have not logged on all at the same time, but I have logged on like.. 5 at least at once. Another thing is there are many JP players that log onto 5 char's at once. Not to say that we have the same privelleges as the JP players, but I feel like this may not be the reason for your ban (tho it looks like the only cause.) There may be a possibility that 1 of your characters has a bad name or you may have come off as offensive when not really being so, and they took it a step farther and banned the ip and not the account that caused this. Let's hope for the best! (i'm sure it's not a perma ban).

The thing is, since 3 ppl are having the same issue Al,Sesshou and Fizzy I think the cause should be the same. That would mean that if you have a theory about why they are unable to login it should apply to each of them. So that would make me think that the reason should be easier to see, I really hope you guys will hear something form CAVE ><

I'll wait and see. Weirdly enough I was reaching the level of addiction that is considered unhealthy, so maybe this is a welcome break for now. But it is a shame that on the day I finish my 100% si'er, they systematically prevent me from logging into any of my accounts.

Have you ever tried to ask someone log in to one of your accounts to see if the accounts are banned of if your IP is? Also, would you mind sharing how to get the textbooks for SIer expertise through quests? trying to raise one D:

Been doing some research. According to the FAQ on the official website there isn't, at this time, any restriction on the number of ID's you can have.
現在、真・女神転生IMAGINEでは、個人の会員様が取得できるイマジンIDに制限を設けておりませんが、 今後変更がある可能性もございますことを、あらかじめご了承ください。
Using Google Translate: Currently, Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE, I do not have a limit on the Imagine ID that Member's personal can be obtained, Please note, that there is a strong possibility that there is a change in the future, too.
While it DOES say there is a possibility this may change in the future, and we have all seen Japanese users with suspected alts. As CuteBanana has said; this does not necessarily mean we have all the same rights as the "intended" users, but it would be a bit odd that other users would be banned for having multiple accounts (especially after an event which ENCOURAGED) users to sign up again. You have put in a great amount of effort to keep non-Japanese players educated and informed about the game. I hope I speak for everyone by saying I hope this matter gets cleared up quickly with a positive outcome.

For what it's worth, I'm fairly certain that Al only has one account/character, so I think that scraps that idea as the cause. He also says he never used any auto-clickers, since some people were mentioning that as a suspicion as well.
If you three can figure out what you did have in common, we'd probably have our answer. My other thought was that there was some sort of security issue and they just banned all compromised accounts while they sorted it out, but you'd think that they would have made some sort of mention of such a thing if that were the case...
It seems the normal process is warnings before bans, but they do say in their policies that this is entirely at their discretion so they can do whatever they'd like if they deem it necessary.
Forgive the Google translate mangling, but the last point is the one that we seem to be dealing with here.
The fact that you guys all seem to be IP banned as well makes me think that it might be a security issue of some kind. I'd think that if you guys actually did anything serious enough to warrant instant account locks and IP bans, you'd be aware, so...
Hopefully Al will turn up and give more detail about his situation in order to help you figure it out.

I had one account/one char on that account only. As Rutee stated, I never used any autoclickers or the like. My IP at my place, like Sess said, wont even connect to secure. I tried logging on at work, got to the secure site, but it still stated my id/pass were unavailable. Attempts to change my password were met with my secret question not existing which I know was false b/c I jotted it down. I was playing with Lagu, Kaii, Azuresky and another friend on Saturday evening and we did a whole NSSR. Literally the only thing I can think of that I did that was remotely frowned upon is that I mistakenly typed a phrase in say chat in Babel on like Thursday night or something. Frustration has mounted especially because of the language barrier.
No word from Cave thus far, no explanation, warning or anything of the sort. I should note that my ban was realized Sunday as well so it seems like it came down for all of us at the same time.
